Camp NaNoWriMo, April 2013: Day Fourteen

Rough day word-count wise for me. I was just SO lazy! I didn’t even get up when I was supposed to–but I guess it’s a Sunday, so sleeping through an alarm is okay. Anyway, I think not getting up is what stalled today’s productivity. I then proceeded to write what you see below (to catch up with the daily word goal) and stopped to clean the house, and then… I don’t even know what happened. But suddenly it was dinner time.

Oh! I did finish a book today, the review for which is up on the blog–it wasn’t very good.

And… that was my day. It was kind of lame in all respects, but at least I got *some* writing done.

What are some of your tricks for getting your word count up when you don’t feel like writing? I’d love to hear them!

How many words did you write today? 898
How long did it take you to write them? Nearly two hours
How many Facebook breaks did you take?  Two once I started writing, many more to procrastinate before that, and I also had daily vlogs up in the background while I was writing this time.
How many characters have you killed off to date? See yesterday’s entry–not much has changed.
How many NaNoWriMo Angels have you murdered? Three today.
Have you stopped using contractions yet? Nope.
What was today’s reward for finishing word count? Starting chores. Not a very good reward, maybe THAT was my problem!
Cups of Tea: I’m about to go make one right now.
How any pieces of chocolate were consumed? One chocolate egg, but that was less “writing fuel” and more “I had a bad vacuum cleaning experience” compensation.
Total NaNoWriMo Word Count So Far: ,
Words to Goal: 26,468
Days Remaining: 16

As always, feel free to comment below with your own answers to this survey (or post it on your own blog!) 🙂

Tricks for getting up word count … hmm. Okay, here’s one — try it if you want and let me know how it goes 😀 First, find an iPod / phone / music playing device. Load it up with awesome songs. Put on your shoes and any weather-appropriate attire. Now, go to your nearest park and just wander around for about an hour or so. As the awesome songs play in your head, imagine that your characters are either singing said songs, or the songs are accompanied by a montage of your characters doing various things. It sounds stupid, and it is, but by trying to fit the characters to the songs, and vice versa, I’ve found that you can come up with a lot of cool ideas.
